What I Provide.

As your Doula I work for you, helping you to create the atmosphere for the birth that you want. I provide emotional support, suggestions to enhance your comfort and the effectiveness of your labor, support for your life partner so he or she doesn't have to "do it all", and confidence that comes from knowing you and attending other births.

* 24 Hour on-call beginning two weeks before the baby is due

* Early labor support individualized to the client's needs with continuity of care through postpartum

* A lending library and community resource and referral list

* Three prenatal visits and three postpartum visits

* Breastfeeding support, information and referral

* Parenting and newborn information

I strive to maintain a calm, peaceful birth environment, maintaining awareness of my client's spoken and unspoken needs.

I will...

-Meet with you during the second and third trimester to get acquainted and to learn about your prior birth experience and the history of this pregnancy as well.
-Help you develop a birth plan.
-Provide you with a supply list for laboring at home and in the hospital.
-Review essential information about how labor may start, when to call the doctor and when to go to the hospital.
-Teach you relaxation, visualization, and breathing skills useful in labor.
-Accompany you to one of your prenatal visits with your doctor or midwife, if you wish, to meet them and answer any questions they may have.
-Help with first breast-feeding and preserving the privacy of your new family during the first few hours after birth.
- Not be there to make decisions for you only to offer you information and another perspective on your choices.

** In the event of a complection a doula can be a great help in understanding what options you have for affecting the circumstances at hand, always keeping in mind your birth plan.
